At Buchen, for assignments in nuclear plants, the implementation
of legal protective regulations and technical rules in this safety
sensitive area is our first priority and is continuously monitored
by the Quality Management. Radioactive transports are carried
out environmentally soundly in accordance with § 8 StrlSchV
Decontamination
At Buchen, we are able to draw on all types of decontamination
process and techniques. Existing contamination is very largely
eliminated while, at the same time, protecting the components to
be cleaned: This also demands comprehensive waste management,
including the sorting, grinding, pressing, packing and precise metering
of radioactive wastes. Other special services are the treatment of
standard materials and plants, among others from the oil and natural gas
industry, and the disposal of radioactive test sources. The environmentally
sound recycling/elimination takes place in our own or the customer's plant.
Mobile blasting unit MOSTRA
The mobile blasting unit MOSTRA is a special type of decontamination
unit developed by Buchen. MOSTRA offers the customer the advantages
of a blasting unit with integral blasting agent recirculation, combined with
the compact size of a mobile unit which, installed in two standard ISO
containers, takes up very little space. In this unit, radioactively contaminated
material is freed from adherent contaminations in an ecologically and
economically sound manner in a recirculation process and, after
subsequent release, is returned to the production cycle for unrestricted
use.
