Franz-Josef Englisch elected Chairman of the Subsector Committee SCC (30.04.2008)

On 24 April in Hamburg, Franz-Josef Englisch was elected Chairman of the SCC Subsector Committee (U-SC SCC). The CEO of Buchen UmweltService GmbH had previously been a member of the U-SC SCC and the DGMK working group 'Normative SCC Documents'. Franz-Josef Englisch succeeded Georg Niemann, who gave up the office because of changes in his professional circumstances. His election was unanimous, with one abstention.

Safety Certificate Contractors/SCC is an internationally recognised certification system with over 1900 certified companies throughout Germany. It was developed by the petrochemicals industry for firms wishing to act as contractors or subcontractors and unites the areas of health, safety and the environment (HSE) to provide a combined occupational safety and environmental protection management system. The aim of the SCC is to raise the safety awareness of employees and, in this way, to reduce accident figures.

The U-SC SCC is an expert group of the German Association for Accreditation (TGA). Represented in this group, either directly or on behalf of their associations, are bodies with an interest in the accreditation and certification of occupational safety management systems in accordance with SCC and SCP checklists.

The U-SC SCC is composed of a maximum of 27 personally appointed members with voting rights (25 from interest groups, 1 chairman, 1 member of the TGA). The representatives for the international SCC platform, which deals with the international harmonisation of SCC regulations, are also appointed from this group.
