Vocational training company Buchen Group introduces itself on Brandenburg's
Day of the Future (30.04.2008)
Claudia Gödel from the Central Function Technical Training and Qualification (CF TTQ) draws a positive conclusion from the Day of the Future in Brandenburg. On the Buchen Group site in Schwedt on 25 April, there was a practical day of a special kind on the programme. Interested young people were able to learn about the training vocation 'Specialist for pipe, drain and industrial services'. A total of 16 young people, two employees of the Agency for Employment and two teachers from the UBV (Uckermark Training Federation) were able to form their own picture of the facets of this training vocation.

Ralph Kniebel, Industrial Service Assignment Manager in Schwedt, had arranged for a practical parcours to be set up, with a tank wash head (TWH), suction vehicle and high pressure pump (HP), and the weather played along. The potential trainees were able to watch from a safe distance as a tank was cleaned with the TWH and to handle an HP gun (not connected for safety reasons).
Daniel Frey, driver of the large HP pump vehicle, even gave up his seat in the cab to give the active young people a direct impression of the size of this mechanical giant. Even Claudia Gödel and the employees of the Agency for Employment took advantage of the chance to sit at the wheel of the colossal vehicle.
The practical demonstration was very well received, as was the opportunity to obtain information on the training and application procedures and on further training possibilities. In this way, it was possible to familiarise the young people with the vocation and to arouse their interest in the training for the job.
On the following day, the First Buchen Trainee Check started and, for half a day, everything revolved around the five registered applicants. Ralph Kniebel and Claudia Gödel conducted practical exercises, interviews and other written tests to determine the capacity for teamwork and the manual aptitude of the applicants.
The presentation of the Buchen Group as a training company was a great success and the results of the Trainee Check then turned out to be equally successful. Of five applicants registered, two were approved for training, two further candidates will first undergo a practical and only one applicant was found not to possess the required aptitude. So, in the First Buchen Trainee Check, the success quota for possible trainees was four out of five.
The next Buchen Trainee Check takes place on 9 May, again in Schwedt. Applications for 2008 are still being accepted. Interested applicants can register at the following address:
