Buchen UmweltService donates tombola proceeds to charity Today, Ralf Feuser from the Buchen Group in Cologne handed over a cheque for €2,000 to Marlene Merhar, chairperson of the Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder e.V. (support group for children with cancer) in the support group's facilities on Gleueler Strasse. The West Region (Cologne-Niehl) of the industrial service provider had held a tombola in favour of the support group during last year's Christmas party.
Click here to download the picture in a higher resolution. The Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder e.V. is an initiative of affected parents. It was founded in 1990 and since then has been dedicated to a sustainable improvement in the living conditions and surroundings of children and youngsters suffering from cancer in the greater Cologne area. As the initiative does not receive any public funds but depends solely on donations, Marlene Merhar was naturally thrilled to benefit from the social commitment of the staff at Cologne's industrial service provider. "Companies set great store by regional responsibility. We are very pleased to receive the donation and enjoy the contact with Buchen". The chairwoman went on to explain that the support group has launched numerous projects, such as building a parents' house on the grounds of the university hospital, organizing recreation breaks as part of aftercare, paying for additional staff on the children's cancer ward and many more besides. The contact to the support group came about through one of the employees at the Cologne branch of the Buchen Group: Bosco Jagnjic has already made several donations to the support group amounting to the equivalent of his annual overtime pay. His colleagues in Cologne have now followed his positive example with this donation. Beate Berster |
