Health & Safety Protection

Health and Safety Protection is more than compulsory in the Buchen Group

Health and safety are two main foundation pillars of our business policy.

We decided, at an early stage, on the implementation of the internationally recognized work safety –management system SCC- Safety Certificate Contractors to achieve an effective integration of health and safety protection in our company structure and in our work practices. The Buchen Umwelt Service GmbH was one of the first to be successfully certified, in accordance with the SCC check list, in 1995.

Today, this work safety management system is a major element of our integrated management systems in the areas of: Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection.

To ensure and develope continual high standards for us and our customers, the Buchen Group have their own QHSE-Organization with more than 20 experienced safety managers and more than 130 safety representatives.

Our fast, flexible and  safer work with breathing protection and chemical protection overalls is supported by three own company breathing protection workshops that secure the organization of functional and inspected protective equipment.

Health and Safety Protection always has priority

Risk assessments are made in cooperation with safety managers, superiors, employees and the works council, in order to identify risk factors at the place of work. In this way the risk in relation to the work, possible danger through working appliances and through hazardous materials as well as their interaction with the environment are acquired and assessed and out of this, suitable protection measures are derived and stipulated.

Health and Safety Protection is an issue concerning everyone

Our employees have intensive instruction on the hazards at the place of work and suitable measures to be taken by means of operating directives, which is based on the hazard assessment.

The issues of health and safety are essential elements in our other training and instruction modules.

An extract from our training and instruction modules:

  • Officially stipulated instruction
  • Supplementary work/project linked instruction
  • Work safety training in accordance with SCC /VCA
  • Special training as breathing apparatus user
  • Special training as high pressure cleaner
  • Dangerous goods regulations instruction

It is important for us that all our employees are aware of the importance of work and health safety and it is anchored at a very early stage and on a long term basis. This begins with our young colleagues during their apprenticeship as, i.e., a skilled worker for pipeline, drain and industrial services, and continues to the intensive initial skill adaption training of new workers, through to the continual further training of our experienced workers and superiors.

Work and health safety is always an issue

We are genuinely convinced that because of our high standards on work and health safety, we can offer our customers workplace safety with our technical staff and be able to recommend ourselves through quality workmanship and efficiency.

To improve this, it is important to continue to sensitise our employees to the risks in their fields of work.

For this purpose we have initiated the following actions:

Multilingual posters "Safety and Protection from the Start" with particular themes out of daily working life.

Multilingual QHSE-Information, that inform on certain hazardous situations and the resulting lessons to be learnt from them.

Multilingual safety cards for the daily security check before work begins.
